Taipei 360 ° : Round ‘N’ Round We Go

I like traditions. And since we documented our Hong Kong trip with wefies taken at each MTR stop we alighted at, I wanted to do wefies again. And thankfully the Pitchin Bitches were as excited about it as I was.

Here’s our first wefie together when Chewie finally made it to Taipei.

I thought we could do MRT station names again like in Hong Kong but the ones in Taipei weren’t as nice the ones in Hong Kong. Sorry Taipei. You have uber cool stamps at each station though.

So anyway, this time round, we made memories around Taipei with a 360 ° video wefie instead of a still photo. And it turned out awesome!

Airbnb

So ironically, one of our last few 360 ° wefies was done at our Airbnb apartment. I think it was taken on the morning of our last day in Taipei.

It’s a little dark as there were any windows in the common area but I think it turned out quite good. We had a lot of practise so the final cut turned out extremely well. What do you think?

九份 (Jiu Fen)

九份 was insanely crowded! I think I’ll really enjoy 九份 on quieter, less crowded days. Yeap, we sure know how to pick ’em dates. We ended up going during Golden Week again! Not next year! Australia will be different!

艋舺龍山寺 (Mengjia Longshan Temple)

艋舺龍山寺 (Mengjia Longshan Temple) was not originally in our list of places to go. But the night before we went to the temple, we had found out that a good and dear friend of ours was hospitalised and it was quite serious. Once we found out, we decided to go to the temple to pray for her.

Too short. Next year, if we do the 360 ° wefie again, we will go slow.

中正紀念堂 (National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall)

We continued another tradition here at the 中正紀念堂 (National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall) – our Pitchin Bitches comic strip! I’ve yet to do up the comic strip but I’ll post it up eventually. Before our next Pitchin Bitches vacation. I promise.

This is one of my favourite 360 ° wefies. Because there was so much space! Shuping did a great job at fully utilising the vast space we had and helped to create a visually appealing video. Well, she is after an awesome photographer who knows her depth of field! She’s also a foodie who takes great photos of food and is witty as hell! Check out her Fudz List blog and Instagram.

國立國父紀念館 (National Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall)

For this 360 ° wefie we managed to catch both the 國立國父紀念館 (National Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall) and 臺北 101 (Taipei 101). We had to rush through this one cos it had started to drizzle a little.

I kept the original audio for the final cut cos Pamy was so adorable making those funny sounds. I love that we dare to be silly.

饒河街觀光夜市 (Rao He Ye Shi)

Well, we went to a few night markets but not all had an iconic sign with a space big enough for us to do our 360 ° wefie. Fortunately for us 饒河街觀光夜市 (Rao He Ye Shi) was just right.

Pity you can’t see the name of the night market in our 360 ° wefie. But, that arch is quite iconic. So people who know Taipei would know its 饒河街觀光夜市 (Rao He Ye Shi).

五分埔 (Wu Fen Pu)

Shopping. If night markets are all about food, then 五分埔 (Wu Fen Pu) is all about shopping. Well, there are lots to buy at night markets too but a huge part of Taipei’s night markets is the food. And at 五分埔 (Wu Fen Pu), it’s just rows and rows, lane after lane of shopping! My Aussie house mate trained me well and for that I’m grateful. Because it prepared me for 五分埔 (Wu Fen Pu). We walked A LOT!

Love the symmetry in the video. It’s not very obvious that we’re in 五分埔 (Wu Fen Pu) because we couldn’t find a sign that made it clear where we were. But then we decided that that particular cross section was perfect as it showcased the various lanes of 五分埔 (Wu Fen Pu). That and it was one of the few spots that was spacious enough for us to do the 360 ° wefie.

西門町 (Xi Men Ding)

Well, you might have guessed it, but if you didn’t, our first video wefie was done in 西門町 (Xi Men Ding). Yes, yes, it’s vertical. So sue us! By the end of the trip we were 360 ° video pros as you saw from our Airbnb 360 °.

After quite a few 360 ° wefies, we learned that doing it slower meant nice Meipai videos. So you can actually spot the sequence the videos were filmed in from the length of it.

We didn’t do this 360 ° wefie at all the places we visited. Still, it really helped to document the key places we went to on this trip. But all this might not have started if not for Chewie.
